Dog portrait - a toy from a drawing

A new custom toy made after a kid's drawing. this was a hard one, with lots of details, lots of colors, tiny stripes. I count 37 pieces. Or maybe are more? But it was fun. it is always a challenge for me to respect the details.

This custom toy is a dog with wheels. Maybe it has a story for sure. I love it because it has so many colors, it is a happy toy, cheerful and bright.

The back is simple. Sometimes I sew a name of the back if a customer wants this.

Personalized doll from kid's drawing

This personalized doll was a challenge. The hair, the flower from her hand, the fingers, the stripes from the dress. I tried to follow the drawing and to catch her face expression. As you can see, it is a doll made after a kid's drawing. It was a special gift for a mom who wanted to keep her girl's drawing as a memory.

A personalized doll is an unique gift!

 The doll is made from felt. It has anti bacterial polyester inside and it has 24 cm.

How to make curly felt hair for a doll

It was a challenge for me to make curly felt hair for a doll. Not easy, but I found a way. I searched on the Internet and all the pictures and the tutorial I found were not  for my project. So, I made my own curly felt hair. Here it is an easy tutorial with pictures. Maybe it will be useful for you too. 

You will need: a ruler, needle and brown thread, brown felt, a pencil or a no 6 hook. 

Cut one very long brown felt stripe or cut two stripes if you need long hair. 

Make a know and sew the corner of the stripe. 

Wrap the stripe around the hook just 2 times.

Sew the both stripes together ...

and make a knot on the second one to secure the thread and to prevent to unfold the stripe. 

Wrap more ... 

... and sew the stripes two by two, making on every line a knot. 

You will have something like in the picture. 

Take out the hook and you have curly hair. 

Let the stripe to twist itself. Sew it on the doll.

Personalized doll after a picture

If your kid is drawing a doll or a toy and you like it, you can transform it into a real plush toy. It is very easy: take the drawing, make it bigger, make a pattern on a paper, cut the pattern, cut the felt using the pattern pieces and sew them together. It could take a couple of hours and this toy could be a great gift for your kids.

Bunny Soft Dolls for Pretend Play

My 9 years daughter loves to play with tiny dolls. I was inspired by her toys and her pretend games. I made these 2 little bunnies that go to bed. Their name are Ruby and Lily. Ruby has a story book and Lily has a Teddy Bear. (Every little girl has a Teddy Bear, right?)

Take with you and you go to bed. Pretend to be a story teller and invent short stories for your kids. When you spend time with your kids, you make them feel safe, make them feel important, you create memories. 

They are suitable for 6-10 years girls because they have small parts: the book and the Teddy Bear.

They are made from acrylic felt and their beds are made of felt and fabric. The size for the bunnies is 7.87 inches (20cm). You can buy them in My Etsy Shop.

Five Little Monkeys Felt Board

You know the song Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed? It's a very known song for children. Inspired by this funny song, I made a felt board with monkeys: 5 kids, a mom (with a flower in her hair) and a doctor. 

Instead of bed, I sew a branch and some leaves.It is made from soft and colorful felt and the monkeys have polyester inside and Velcro on the back. 

I attached the printed lyrics. But what can you do with this felt funny board? Ooooo, so many activities !

First you can use it as nursery decor, as picture in your kids room or classroom and then you can play with it.
It can be a travel felt board too and your kids can play safely and quietly in the train, in the car or plane. Take the board with you when you visit the doctor - your kids will be concerned to play. 

Activities you can play:

1. Sing the song and play with the monkeys

2. Count the monkeys

3. Invent a story about monkeys

4. Talk about jungle, monkeys, monkeys' food

5. Talk about the family

6. Invent a silly song

7. Make simple addition

8. Play "I spy ..."

Every child would be happy to play with monkeys.
