Llama Banner - a personalized felt garland with letters

I like to make personalized things. People want to have something unique, made specially for them. And this is the part that I like: my items are unique and it is a refreshing thought. A custom one is this llama banner. It is made with colors to match to room furniture.

Llamas become so popular! They are cute with their friendly and childish faces. I made my own design pattern for these llama. 

The letters for this llama banner have almost 12 cm in height and they have anti bacterial toy filling inside. 

It is a versatile banner. It can be a decoration in a room, in a nursery. But also it can be a banner for a baby shower party or for a birthday party.

How I made a custom toy - a bird toy

Maybe my explanation will help you to make a sew a custom toy after a kid's drawing. This is a bird from a picture that I received.

Materials I used: felt (black, white, brown), adhesive fabric, anti bacterial poly filling, brown thread

I enlarged the design and I trace a pattern. I used to make the pattern a little bigger because I sew the edges. Then I cut the pieces: the head, the body, the beak, the wings and feet and other details. Some of the parts are going inside others, so I have to consider them longer. For example, the feet and the wings will go inside the body. The body will go inside the head. The beak will go inside the head. So, these pieces are longer. 

Sometimes, for stability, I put adhesive fabric on some pieces. For this bird, I put it on the head, beak, body, wings, feet. The adhesive fabric has one side with a special adhesive. You put the fabric on your piece of felt in this case, and press it with a hot iron. Be careful, the glued part must be on your felt, so they can collate each other. 

I sew the small parts: the wings, the feet, the beak. they will go inside the other parts, so I need them first to be done. Then I sew the details, in this case the eye and the brown shape on the body. 

Then I pin the parts together following the drawing: the wings, for example, must be in the wright place. Here, first, I sew the body, around, using blanket stitch. Before closing it, when the open is large enough, I fill the body with anti bacterial poly filling. Not too much, it has to be soft. 

Then I sew the head and then I attach the body that will go inside the head. Finish off. 

The bird is done. This one was a quick project. Other toys are with lots of details and many colors.

Handmade dragon toy, a custom toy after a kid's drawing

Every toy I make is a challenge. Some of my toys are made after my pattern. But others are made after kid's drawings. This handmade dragon toy is one of them. I received a picture with some dragons. I have to make a particular position with other one dragon wings.

The challenge was not only to find the best size, the best wing, the best position of the wings on the body, but to make this thin body strong enough to carry the wings. And to make the wings to look light but puffy, big enough too.

Then, I search in some fabric stores the perfect color and the perfect felt. But I did it. Completely sew by hand, filled with anti bacterial poly filling. This is the dragon, a blue one, made after a kid's drawing. I think it will be a Christmas present for a boy.

Butterfly quiet book

I like to make things with multiple uses. My quiet books are educational toys. Because I am a teacher, I try to make everything to follow a teaching purpose. This is a butterfly shaped quiet book. It can be used at home or at school for many activities. 

Activities with my butterfly quiet book 

1. Count from 1 to 10, move up and down the beads. It is important for kids to move the objects. 
2. Talk about butterfly life cycle. Under the leaves, you will find out the eggs. 
3. Talk about inside and outside, hiding the butterfly inside its cocoon. The butterfly is a finger puppet. 
4. Invent some stories about the butterfly. 
5. Count the eggs, the leaves, the caterpillar circles. 
6. Move the caterpillar circles while counting them.

7. Weave the cocoons. 

8. This is the front cover. It has sequin fabric on the wings and you can feel it with your fingers.

9. Match the colors and the wings. Sort them, count them.

10. This is the back cover of the book. Move up and down the butterflies. Invent a story.

A shy guy, a platypus or just a custom toy from drawing

Look at this shy guy! Isn't it lovely? I don't know what animal is. I made this toy after a kid's drawing. Sometimes I think it seems like a platypus, but I am not sure. :)

It is hard to catch exactly the feeling, the smile, the attitude from a picture. But I did it and I like it how it turned out.

It can be a great gift for a child. I think it will be a nice surprise for him or for her to see the toy.

Dog portrait - a toy from a drawing

A new custom toy made after a kid's drawing. this was a hard one, with lots of details, lots of colors, tiny stripes. I count 37 pieces. Or maybe are more? But it was fun. it is always a challenge for me to respect the details.

This custom toy is a dog with wheels. Maybe it has a story for sure. I love it because it has so many colors, it is a happy toy, cheerful and bright.

The back is simple. Sometimes I sew a name of the back if a customer wants this.

Christmas gift for pets

Do you have a little one? A dog or a cat? Or another pet? Then you know that Christmas is coming for your darling too. I have in my shop a Christmas ornament for pet. It is a felt heart with name and a paw or a bone. And now I made other sweet red hearts just with pas and names on the back.

If you want to make some ornaments, use felt because it is to sew. Attach a ribbon and fill it with poly fiber. It can be any shape you want: a heart, a globe, a bone, even a little cone to fill in with treats. 

Think at your little pet this Christmas. Make a special treat for it, an ornament with its name.

Halloween witch house ornaments

Ready for Halloween? Look at my felt houses. Black houses with colored windows.

I made them without a pattern. Just cut, cut, cut and sew, sew, sew. Fun! 

I put them a ribbon for hanging. It is easy to sew them. Make some felt houses, different colored or black or purple. For Halloween or for other occasion.

Halloween felt board

I made a felt board for Halloween. I have wanted to make a Halloween theme board with lots of symbols and perfect for playing, for learning, and for decorating a room too. Bats, pumpkins, witch hats, ghost, a witch pot and a spider.

The board has 2 sides. On the first one you will find a pumpkin patch and 2 black bats. The pumpkins have numbers and Velcro on the back. You can count them from 1 to 10, count by 2, sort by size and shape, sing Five Little Pumpkins. Play with the bats too because they are detachable. The have snaps.

On the other part, you will find a Tic Tac Toe game with ghost and witch hats. They also have Velcro on the back. The spider is movable up and down on the spout. Of course, sing the song Itsy Bitsy Spider while moving the little spider. 

You can hang the board on the wall, because it has 2 ribbons for that. 

You can also invent a little story withe the bats. 

Another 2 little bats are on the other side, but they are purple and they are not detachable. They are just for decor, for touching, for identify the colors. Play I spy with all the elements: I spy something purple, something round and yellow, something brown and so on.

A banner with 2 llamas

The llamas are the new trend. Everybody loves them because they have a soft wool. For a llama lover I made this name banner. Isabella is her name and her mother has wanted to have some pastel colors in the nursery.

The llama is easy to sew. It is like a deer, but the neck is longer. I chosen the white felt for these ones, but you can make them with brown or cafe.

The letters have almost 12cm and the banner is long enough - 90cm. It can be hang on the wall or on the door, in a nursery or a girl room. Or it can be a nice decoration for a birthday party, for a baby shower too.

Owl book cover

My 11 years daughter asked me to make her a book cover. She likes the owls (you know, from Harry Potter) and I decided to sew an owl on the cover.

The kids from her school liked the owl cover book. And the English teacher was impressed. And my daughter was happy. Probably she read the book quickly.

White heart ornament

White hearts as gift tags. Soft and puffy, these white hearts with red beads are a nice touch to your presents.

I made them with white and red because in this way they can be perfect for Christmas time, or for Valentine's Day. Or for other special occasion.
