Handmade dragon toy, a custom toy after a kid's drawing

Every toy I make is a challenge. Some of my toys are made after my pattern. But others are made after kid's drawings. This handmade dragon toy is one of them. I received a picture with some dragons. I have to make a particular position with other one dragon wings.

The challenge was not only to find the best size, the best wing, the best position of the wings on the body, but to make this thin body strong enough to carry the wings. And to make the wings to look light but puffy, big enough too.

Then, I search in some fabric stores the perfect color and the perfect felt. But I did it. Completely sew by hand, filled with anti bacterial poly filling. This is the dragon, a blue one, made after a kid's drawing. I think it will be a Christmas present for a boy.

A shy guy, a platypus or just a custom toy from drawing

Look at this shy guy! Isn't it lovely? I don't know what animal is. I made this toy after a kid's drawing. Sometimes I think it seems like a platypus, but I am not sure. :)

It is hard to catch exactly the feeling, the smile, the attitude from a picture. But I did it and I like it how it turned out.

It can be a great gift for a child. I think it will be a nice surprise for him or for her to see the toy.

Dog portrait - a toy from a drawing

A new custom toy made after a kid's drawing. this was a hard one, with lots of details, lots of colors, tiny stripes. I count 37 pieces. Or maybe are more? But it was fun. it is always a challenge for me to respect the details.

This custom toy is a dog with wheels. Maybe it has a story for sure. I love it because it has so many colors, it is a happy toy, cheerful and bright.

The back is simple. Sometimes I sew a name of the back if a customer wants this.

Dragon custom toy

A red dragon toy. It is made after a kid's drawing. I have to admit that the kids make wonderful toys. They know exactly the proportions, the details, the colors.

The toy is made from felt and it has anti bacterial polyester inside. It has 24 cm.

Personalized doll from kid's drawing

This personalized doll was a challenge. The hair, the flower from her hand, the fingers, the stripes from the dress. I tried to follow the drawing and to catch her face expression. As you can see, it is a doll made after a kid's drawing. It was a special gift for a mom who wanted to keep her girl's drawing as a memory.

Polar bear - a custom toy

According to this girl's drawing, this is a polar bear. How can I made it a toy, I asked myself. It was not so easy. The drawing has a lots of details and I had to sew it piece by piece, by hand. But the result ...

I used colorful and soft felt. It is filled with anti bacterial polyester.

Some of the details are embroidered. Other are small felt pieces sew together.

I think it will be a nice present. A custom toy has something special, it is unique. Probably sometimes it is a strange toy, because kids' drawings are so creative! But more than that, it is a special toy and definitely  it brings joy.

Purple unicorn made after a drawing

The reality is that we don't know what color is an unicorn. Perhaps they are white. Or even purple.
I think purple (besides pink) is a very lovely color and the little girls like it very much.

Here it is another unicorn. A purple unicorn. And a personalized one, because it is made after a girl's drawing. It was a difficult toy to make. It has lots of details, lots of colors. I sew all the little pieces by hands, one by one. 

I like how it turns out. I like the bows. And the rainbow from the tail.

A personalized unicorn toy made after a drawing

Every little girl loves the unicorns. I received a request to make one as in a drawing. Here it is.

I used black felt for this personalized unicorn and other colors felt for the details. It is stuffed with anti bacterial polyester. 

I think she will be very happy to see it. The unicorns are magical creatures. This toy can be a great custom toy for a girl, but it can be a memory toy for a mom or for a grandmother too. Made by Kids Custom Doll

Here it is the story of another custom doll. 

     

The kid's picture was one made with chalkboard on the ground. For this reason it was challenge to choose the right colors. I have to change the picture to obtain a clear one. 

Do you pay attention at details when you make a personalized item? I do. Yes, it is important. Every detail in the kid's picture must be in the right place.

This time it was difficult to make the face. I chosen to make the eyes with felt and to sew with black thread the eyes lashes. I wanted to sew the mouth too, but it looked strange. So I make the mouth from felt too.  

When I make a toy after a picture, I try to keep the proportion. It is very important too. This doll has 24 cm. The hands looks a little big weird because they are so big, but these are the proportion. 

The mother who order this cute doll asked me to sew on the back a name and a date. Maybe it is the kid's name, I didn't ask. Maybe she wants to keep this doll as a memory, because the kids use to draw so beautiful at some ages, and their pictures look so cute, that you want to keep them forever.

Cute personalized toy

Kids can imagine strange and beautiful things. A toy could be something else everyday. I received a new challenge with a picture for a toy that is ... a panda bear with a butterfly head and a cat tail. I have to admit that drawing is so nice and original! It has perfect proportions and the right colors.

I try to make the toy to look exactly like the drawing. I know it is important for kids.

In time, I found out that this kind of toy could have multiple purposes:

- a toy for kids, of course

-but a gift for mom or grandmother too because they always want to keep in their secret drawer something from their kids

-a present for a birthday or a present for no occasion

-a gift for dads

-a memory toy...

Kid's Drawing Turned Into a Plush Toy

Searching for a great gift for your kids? Grab a needle, some colorful felt and a pair of scissors, then ask your little ones to draw their favorite toy or their favorite character. The big surprise is that you can make some cute toys from their drawings.

Materials you need: colorful felt, polyester for filling, a pair of scissors, assorted threads, a needle.

There is no pattern to provide. The drawing is the pattern. Enlarge the picture. Draw the contour of the character. Match the colors. 

Your toy will be the best if you can use the same colors as in your kid's picture and respect the details. For kids, details are very important. Cut the pattern. 

Pin each piece of paper on colorful felt. Don't forget to keep the colors. Cut the pieces. When you cut the pieces, be careful to cut not exactly on the edge of your pattern, but leaving a 3mm edge to helps you to sew the pieces. 

Put the pieces together to see they are perfect. Keep in mind that some pieces will go inside others: the neck inside the head and the body, the hands inside the body, the pants inside the body and so on. 

 Start sewing the details: the face, the eyes, the mouth. Use assorted colors or contrasting ones, according to your picture.

Sew the parts together. You're done. You have a beautiful plush toy made after your children's drawing. And your little one will be very, very happy.
