How to make a duck from felt

Make a duck, a cute little duck from felt. Make many ducklings for your kids and play together.

Materials you need:
-colorful felt (orange, yellow for ducks, white, brown, green for wings)
-polyfill
-needle and assorted thread
-scissors

Draw a duck on a sheet of paper. Make the body and a wing.

Cut the paper pattern.

Fix it on the felt.

Cut around the paper pattern and make 2 pieces for body and one for wing.

The beak is only a simple triangle.

First, sew the eye using a criss cross stitch.

Then sew the wing using overcast stitch.

Sew the both parts of the body using buttonhole stitch. Stuff lightly with polyfill.

Sew the beak too. Fasten off.

Your duck is ready. You can use them for playing with your kids: count, invent a story, sing Five Little Ducks ...

Here is one of my felt board for a counting book.

How to make a bird - from felt

I love birds. Do you? Some of them are sooo nice and their sings are wonderful. These are my birds. Simple birds; just as decor.

If you want to make a bird like mine, you need:
-colorful and assorted felt
-beads
-needle and assorted thread
-polyfill
-scissors
-pins

Draw a pattern. I like to make one like a rain drop. Draw the body and a wing.

Cut the pattern and use a pin to fix it on the felt, then cut the shape. Cut the parts for body and one wing.

Cut a beak from yellow felt. The beak has to be like a long thin rectangular.

Sew the eye using a criss cross stitch.

Sew the wing.

Sew the both parts of the bird. The eye and the wing are only on one part. You can make eyes and wings on the both parts. Sew the beak, then continue to sew the body.

Stuff lightly with polyfill.

If you want, you can sew a pieces of Velcro on the back.

Your bird is ready. Make the birds with assorted colors. You can use them as decorations in your kids room, in your office, as Easter or spring decor. If you attach a Velcro, your kids can play with them on a felt board.

But, if you want that your birds to be more ... festive, use beads for wings and eyes, for example.

Ask your child, as I did, to search for ... treasures in your box and find some perfect beads for your birds.

Ready to use. Festive enough? Just think: Easter, spring, Christmas, Valentine... and so on. Use the birds to decorate.

Train Felt Board

Kids love chu-chu trains. I love them too. It's funny. Just imagine to ride by this colorful chu-chu train.

I made it from soft and colorful felt; for each part I used a different color. In this way, you can teach your kids the colors and shapes. I think a train like this can be a perfect puzzle.

And ... I added 5 little monkeys because a client asked me to do that. So, here they are: 5 colorful monkeys with Velcro on the back. Remove them, put again, remove and so on.

Play:
-I spy with my little eye ....
-Count the monkeys
-Recognize the colors and shapes
-Sing a song
-Invent a silly song
-Create a story

Or use it as nursery decor or classroom decoration. I think it's great for all kind of kids: preschool, kindergarten, 1 or 2nd grade, for teaching a foreign language etc.

Watch my video: my daughter is playing with this felt board.

Enjoy your ride.

Five Little Monkeys Felt Board

You know the song Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed? It's a very known song for children. Inspired by this funny song, I made a felt board with monkeys: 5 kids, a mom (with a flower in her hair) and a doctor.

Instead of bed, I sew a branch and some leaves. It is made from soft and colorful felt and the monkeys have polyester inside and Velcro on the back.

I attached the printed lyrics. But what can you do with this felt funny board? Ooooo, so many activities !

First you can use it as nursery decor, as picture in your kids room or classroom and then you can play with it.
It can be a travel felt board too and your kids can play safely and quietly in the train, in the car or plane. Take the board with you when you visit the doctor - your kids will be concerned to play.

7. Make simple addition
8. Play "I spy ..."

Every child would be happy to play with monkeys.

Room Decor Banner with Monkeys

Every new banner is a challenge for me. I want to find the perfect colors combination. When the kid's name has only 4 letters is a little bit difficult to make a nice combination and to have something bright, funny, assorted. This is a banner for a boy named TOBY. His mom wanted to be colorful and to have 2 little monkeys.

The monkeys will hide the place where you hand on the banner on the wall. The ribbon is sew on the back.

Every letter has a heart shaped bead. I couldn't find yet plane or car-shaped beads.

I mixed yellow, red, light and dark blue for this banner.

This is the way you can hand it on the wall.

It can be a great decoration for your nursery room. The colors are perfect for a baby boy or for a baby girl. But if you can choose other colors combination. You can use it at baby shower party or at birthday party.
